Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am currently teaching 6th and 7th-grade science in North Las Vegas. I have a fantastic group of kids, but they face many challenges in our area. My students are primarily Hispanic, and many are not native English speakers. They also have varying degrees of math and reading skills from grade 1 to grade 11. Due to this, I must find ways of addressing all of their needs while still challenging them to learn.

My Project

This program is intended to build personal fitness and knowledge of body fitness and wellness while promoting body positivity. I am expanding our Cheer Squad (doubling the number of participants) and looking to build in physical fitness and training components to build strong bodies and confidence regardless of their size. My project will fund the purchase of hand weights, leg resistance bands, and ropes to aid in the physical fitness building. My student athletes will use the materials on a daily basis to build strength and coordination. Our goal is to become a competition team by 2022-2023 season. Your support will allow me to continue to work with my cheerleaders and make their dreams come true!
