My students do not always succeed in writing or verbalizing their understanding even when I know they have learned the concepts. Using Legos will allow kids to build models representing the concepts we learn, such as water cycle, food chains/webs, cell structure, etc. These models can lead to a discussion of what the kids understand and allow me to assess their knowledge in a fun way. My students will use the legos to model concepts throughout the school year. From chemical equations and conservation of matter to cell structure, each unit will include an opportunity for kids to build a model and share what their model represents.
