This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a School Psychologist working with students with internalizing problems such as anxiety and depression.

I have created a safe and cozy space for them where they come for counseling sessions and also when they need time to cope with an upsetting situation, feel overwhelmed, or just need a break.

Among many coping strategies they practice, they are learning that creating art is calming. My studnets enjoy painting, coloring, and fidgeting with sensory items.

A lot of my students have experienced trauma and reading therapist recommended books, such as, "How we Grow Through What we Go Through is one that I would like to use in my work with them.
