My Project

My AP English Literature & Composition class is hungry (yes, literally, they want candy and snacks all the time, but seriously...) they are starving for short novels to read in book clubs. They are also super creative. We are spending a lot of time honing close reading and visual analysis strategies - reading carefully and annotating text and then telling its story - their unique interpretation - in a visual way.

Visual analysis lets them show what they know - make claims that

that pop, choose precise text evidence, and select targeted diction - activities that will help them mature as readers and writers who rock the AP Lit Exam.

We are building our classroom library; these novellas with both high interest topics and human-like, intricate characters - represent varied backgrounds, origins, and perspectives.

When the Donors Choose books and materials arrive - my "kids" act like it's their birthday. They can't wait to tear open the packages and devour the contents. (I get kind of crazy excited, too). We can't wait for "birthday" day!
