Personal Space with a Cozy Carpet!

My Students

I work with an incredible group of diverse pre-kindergarten students. Most of the students come from low-income families, so educational materials are hard to come by.

Early childhood grades have always been something that is very near and dear to my heart.

There are so many different cultures and personalities, but the one thing that my students all have in common is that they all love to learn and work together as a classroom community. They each have a lot to offer and share.

My Project

We have a diverse group of pre-k students who are excited for school! With your support, they can grow, learn, and spread their excitement for education into their future academic career. Pre-k is a special place for children to learn how to get along with others while building self-confidence and self-esteem. They learn how to socialize with others, manage disagreements, and build key communication skills needed in the future.

A new rug that shows a visible defined space for each student and fun literary characters from Mo Willems' books will let my students sit with each other without invading others' personal space!

I know when the students see the carpet they will be as ecstatic as me. Mo Willems is one of our favorite authors in the classroom; his stories make the students laugh. Just like his books bring joy to the classroom, I know the carpet will bring joy to my students.

My students are curious and active learners who love to make new discoveries by exploring our surroundings. It's hard for a four-year-old to sit and listen to a lecture. That's why they learn through play! Through play, students make observations and discuss what they notice. Through our discussions, they draw conclusions that help them to make sense of the world and learn each day.

Our classroom materials are essential to our learning process. Offering us tools that support role-playing, creating, building, social-emotional skills, reading and writing skills, language skills, and math skills is how we learn.
