The addition of 3D technology has truly transformed learning in our classroom. Many of our students are using it as a creative, hands-on learning tool at school and is something entirely new for them. The 3D printer has allowed students to move beyond imagining ideas to actually building them. Instead of simply reading about scientific concepts or design principles, students can now prototype, test, and revise their work—mirroring the real-world processes used by engineers and inventors. This has helped them develop stronger problem-solving skills, spatial reasoning, and confidence in their ability to bring ideas to life.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is watching their designs become real, tangible objects. There is a special kind of engagement that happens when a student sees a project they created on a screen slowly take shape on the printer bed. They love the sense of ownership and accomplishment that comes with printing their own creations—everything from geometric models to custom keychains to small engineering challenges we've incorporated into lessons.\r\n\r\nA few students, in particular, have truly thrived with access to this technology. One student who is typically very quiet in class has become a leader during design sessions, helping others troubleshoot their files and offering creative suggestions. Another student who often struggles with traditional assignments has found success in 3D modeling; the visual and hands-on nature of the work gives him a new way to show his understanding. These moments have shown us how powerful 3D technology can be in unlocking students' potential and giving them meaningful ways to express their ideas.\r\n\r\nI have shared some pictures of our recent project. We learned about symmetry and then use the concept to design snowflake ornaments. We decorated our school holiday trees with the ornaments and will take them home before the holiday recess. \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our students are not only learning about the future—they're building it.","fullyFundedDate":1758898879593,"projectUrl":"project/dream-it-design-it/9723590/","projectTitle":"Dream It, Design It!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Calderon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp119818_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1457655262219","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/119818"},{"teacherId":3132876,"projectId":9837741,"letterContent":"Thank you for making this project possible. Each story gives us simple language and visuals to help my kindergarteners talk about their emotions and what to do when they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or excited. These lessons have become powerful tools for helping students navigate their day with confidence and care.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive, joyful, and deeply connected to student experiences. We read these books during morning meetings, in our calming corner, and during small group lessons. After reading, we often practice the strategies from the books like taking a calm breath, asking for help, or using kind words so students understand that what we learn in stories can be used in real life.
