Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very special. Several of them have special needs and some have other behavioral challenges. Over 75 percent of our students live in poverty. Many of our students either currently are or have been homeless at some point, which is truly devastating.
My grade level changes almost every year, and because of our population, I tend to purchase a lot of our classroom supplies.
Whatever puts a smile on their faces makes me happy! My goal is to make their six hours of school time as special as it can be. They are always grateful for the love and support they get, which is why I am always looking for ways to improve my instruction! I get a lot of hugs here!
My Project
Sometimes the basic things are just not available when you need them. White copy paper is hard to come by. This copy paper will be shared amongst three third grade classes. The pens will be used for paper correcting as well as for students final drafts in writing. Children love using pens to write!
Our school has more students than we physically have room for.
Because of this, several of our classes are in the basement in rooms that were never meant to be classrooms. The room I happen to be in did not have any shelves or counters so I am trying to properly furnish it. We need places to store books and supplies. The book cases and plastic rolling carts will be perfect for that!
