This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Movement is one of the most powerful tools for student learning, focus, and lifelong health. In my physical education classes, I want students to go beyond simply “exercising”—I want them to understand how their bodies work, how effort connects to results, and how data can guide personal improvement.

This project will provide a Schwinn stationary bike to create a consistent, safe, and measurable fitness station for my students.

The bike will be used not just for cardio training, but as a hands-on learning tool that connects physical activity to science, math, and technology.

Students will track heart rate, monitor endurance, and compare recovery times before and after exercise. They will learn how the cardiovascular system responds to effort, how consistency improves performance, and how data can be used to set and reach personal fitness goals.

This turns physical education into a real-world lab for learning:

Science: how the heart, lungs, and muscles respond to exercise

Math: tracking time, distance, heart rate zones, and progress over time

Technology/Engineering: using fitness equipment to measure and improve performance

The stationary bike also provides an inclusive option for students of all fitness levels, allowing every child to participate at their own pace while still being challenged and supported.

Beyond fitness, this project builds confidence, resilience, and self-awareness. Students begin to see that effort produces measurable results, and that they are capable of growth they can actually see and track.
