PBIS: One Stop Shop

My Project

Supporting middle school students through tough adolescent years requires one to be empathetic, consistent and willing to dole out praise. Our PBIS or Positive Behavior Incentive system allows teachers to dole out praise through the form of Buffalo Bucks for adhering to the 4 P's. Be Polite, Punctual, Prepared and Productive are key ways our middle schoolers earn Buffalo Bucks to purchase items in our school store. With the uptick of issues related to food insecurity brought on by layered effects of poverty and post pandemic stress, our school store has become a One Stop Shop.

One Stop Shop, means we meet students basic needs stocking hair products, hygiene supplies and food like pickles, hot sausages and yes, even the deal of the day on Fridays, Ramen noodle soup.

Meeting basic needs, as noted in Maslow's hierarachy, is the best way to secure engaged and active learners, even in the midst of adolescence. Help us dole out praise with Buffalo Bucks, as students follow the 4 P's and stock up in our One Stop Shop school store by providing the items most requested by students.

Ms. Mack Young Middle Magnet School Grades 6-8
