The students are a group of 6th-8th graders, gaining the desire to become life long readers. In the community there is a small bodega, laundry mat, a major grocery chain, two dollar stores and rows of homes in need of rehabilitation. Signs in various languages speckle the neighborhood as a feather of multiculturalism blanket the area. Yet, when the students enter the room, their questions and welcoming smiles remind me they are the life of this community. When one of the students asks about growing more food to give out on Friday's, I say, " let's talk about how we can make that happen!".
