Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year marks a special milestone for me—my very first year teaching first grade! I am so excited to create a classroom where my students feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn every single day. For many of my students, school is not just a place to learn—it’s a place where they find comfort, structure, and a sense of belonging.

I am working to build a calm and welcoming classroom environment that meets the needs of all learners.

With your help, I will be able to provide flexible seating through cozy classroom rugs, a mobile whiteboard, easel pads and markers, soft lighting with a calming lamp, and organizational bins, carts and tools that keep our space structured and easy to navigate. These simple additions make a huge difference in helping young learners stay focused, independent, and confident. I am also asking for bulletin board décor and supplies including markers, ten-frame math manipulatives and dry erase erasers foir students to use.

In addition, I am including a classroom doorbell to create smooth, quiet transitions and grab students’ attention without adding stress or noise. I am also requesting sensory tools that will support students who need extra help managing their emotions, staying regulated, and focusing on their learning. These tools are especially important in a first-grade classroom, where students are still developing self-control and coping skills.

My goal is to create a space where every child feels seen, supported, and excited to come to school. A well-organized, calming environment allows students to spend less time feeling overwhelmed and more time exploring, learning, and growing.
