Paint Needed for Art Program

My students need a gallon of each of 7 basic colors to continue to learn how to paint. They also need mask molds to explore aspects of sculpture in art class.

My Students

Painting provides a unique environment in which every child can enjoy learning how to think and consider the world around them. My students really enjoy art class. They are at very real economical disadvantages, so I am honored to bring hope and creative knowledge to my students with your help.

My students (the entire population of the school) live in an impoverished community, and are not exposed to many of opportunities and experiences they need to relate to the world around them.

They don't know many things other children their ages already know (like identifying what are fruits and vegetables). They are very sweet children, yet they already possess a defensive edge. In many cases, their home life is not very good. Sometimes students come to school poorly dressed and hungry.

My Project

I am requesting a gallon each of basic colors (red, yellow, blue, violet, black and white) for the art classes I teach. Painting aids the health and development of my students mentally, physically and emotionally. I use painting to help the students explore elements of themselves and the increasingly global society in which they live. In my art class, I use painting to help the students learn how to use foresight, think logically, soothe themselves emotionally and increase hand-eye coordination. Sculpture masks are also a significant item I am requesting so my students may experience creating and the act of building. Sculpting strengthens the hands and fingers, as well as further develops comprehension of process or steps to achieve a goal. And of course, the students will paint their sculptures as they like. This personalizes the projects even more.

I have a scant an art budget, and the parents (PTA) do not help me.

These students really depend on your support to continue to enjoy a rich art program that will help them learn how to use the tools (skills) necessary to have a successful academic and personal future.
