My Project

In our first-grade classroom, students are learning to be independent problem-solvers while working in centers, collaborating with classmates, and taking ownership of their learning. During small-group instruction, however, students often need assistance and will walk up to the teacher table to ask questions. While these interruptions are understandable, they can disrupt focused instruction for students receiving targeted support.

To create a more efficient and engaging learning environment, we are requesting a restaurant-style paging systems for our classroom.

These pagers will allow students to request help without immediately interrupting a lesson. When a student needs assistance, they can simply place a help request and continue working while they wait for the teacher's response.

Not only will this reduce interruptions, but it will also introduce students to a real-world system used in restaurants, hospitals, and service industries. Students will love the novelty of receiving a pager notification, making the process both practical and exciting.

These classroom pagers will help:

Minimize interruptions during teacher-led small groups

Increase instructional time and student focus

Encourage independence and problem-solving skills

Provide students with a respectful way to request assistance

Create a fun, real-world learning experience that students will remember

Our goal is to build a classroom where every student can receive timely support without disrupting the learning of others. By funding this project, you will help create a smoother, more productive learning environment where students feel empowered to seek help and teachers can maximize instructional time.
