Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all come from different backgrounds and homes. But when we all get together for band, we are one giant, musical family that cares for each other. Every day I let them know how much they mean to me and that I am happy to see them back!
I teach band at a Title I school where about 98% of our school population receives free and reduced lunch.
Many students come from low-income homes, where most families are field workers. Students spend their summers and weekends working with their parents to help with home finances. Many students work very hard in their academics as they are dedicated and passionate to become the first in their families to attend college and receive a degree. These students have goals and dreams to give back to their families and community.
My Project
All of my students in the Indoor Percussion Ensemble have been working very hard the past several years. They are to the point where we are using more equipment because of an increase in student involvement in our program. We are also performing in a high competitive level. With more equipment and creating an effective show, we need Cymbal backpack carrying cases to provide safe transport for our Cymbals and a sample pad to add electronical effects to our show. This will allow our students to take care of our equipment so it may all last a long time. We will all be take our performance to the next level by adding more technology in our show!
