My Students

Dr. Seuss knew the importance of color- just read My Many Colored Days! "Then comes a Yellow Day. And, Wheeeeeeeeee- I am a busy bee." He knew that colors are powerful and a great way for kids to express themselves- so help my kids learn the importance of colors with new paint for our art room!

I teach 800 kids in a low socioeconomic area of Indiana.

Many of my kids go home after school to an empty home and sit and watch TV or have to watch over younger siblings. After school activities like sports or performing and visual arts activities are almost unheard of. The only exposure to art my students get is what they get from my art class every week.

My Project

I am requesting simple, basic, tempera paint. I have tried some of the cheaper brands and they do not have much of a shelf life. This brand has held up well for us, so I am asking for a gallon of the most used colors: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, black, white, and brown. I want my students to love art and experience art. I want them to have fun and be creative and I want them to try new things. Paint is so versatile and we can do so much with it.
