Outdoor Science Hands-on Learning Experience

My students need snowshoes and two rolling totes to get outside for learning, fun, and exercise.

My Students

I have a special group of young kindergarten students who are very active. Many of my students do not get the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. We have a school trail around our school that is a great place to learn about science.

We live in an area surrounded by Lake Superior where we get a lot of snow for many months.

I want to take advantage of the beautiful outdoors of the Upper Peninsula, Michigan by getting my class outside in the snow.

My Project

By funding this project, all my students will get to experience the great outdoors. Learning outside will provide my students with exercise which is something children do not get enough of anymore. My students will have fun while they learn as we snowshoe through our school forest. We need snowshoes and two rolling totes.

Through this outdoor activity, my students will be experimenting, discovering, problem solving, negotiating, and creating which is all important for their social development.

My students will learn patience and self-control while we walk in a line with our snowshoes. Being outside is the perfect medicine for us during these long, cold winter months.
