Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 18 amazing 4th grade students. They are very intelligent and constantly continue to grow their knowledge. They deserve so much based on the amount of effort they put into their schoolwork.

I am working towards building our school garden to foster science curriculum and concepts!

My Project

By implementing a school garden, students will be able to engage with science concepts and curriculum. Science is usually at the bottom of the list when it comes to teaching curriculum however, it entails the most cross cutting concepts. Science can be taught in various different ways, meeting the needs of many different topics. Implementing a garden is a creative and motivating way to support my students' knowledge of science.

After my students have successfully grown their garden, they will be able to have a salad party in which they can eat the fruits and vegetables they have grown.

This can also foster a healthy lifestyle as students learn that they can grow their vegetables at home.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
