Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a fully self contained special education classroom. Students in my class range from kindergarten through fifth grade. Each of my students are motivated learners and enjoy group read alouds full of fun, exciting, adventurous, and mesmerizing stories. All of my students have individual goals to work towards their comprehension needs. They benefit from additional supports such as adapted pieces to match to the pictures within the stories and support their response in answering comprehension questions.

My Project

These materials will provide a library of stories for my students throughout half of the year within our classroom. Adaptive story pieces will be downloaded, printed, and laminated from the teachers pay teachers site that will provide visual supports to aid in student comprehension, matching, and support non-vocal learners.

Through adapted pieces and various stories, my students can work towards their comprehension goals and identification of story elements (i.e., characters, setting, events).

Our class has a wide range of learners and through scaffolding and differentiation through presenting stories, my students will be supported to meet their needs.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
