This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students attend a Title I low income school, but don't let that fool you! What they lack socioeconomically they more than make up for with dedication and hard work. These kids are going places if only given the right tools.
My students are struggling readers who display grade level deficits.
Yet, reading is the foundation on which all other skills build. In order for these children to be successful, we must utilize an array of resources to promote learning.
My Project
A poet once wrote "Variety is the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor." Certainly, life would be dull if everything were uniform. Our world is full of unique people that dress and speak differently. Not everyone eats the same foods or listens to the same music. Learning is very similar. There isn't one way that works for everyone.
My students are diverse and require multiple methods for learning.
We using visual aids with this projector to help us make connections and predictions. Audio can serve to demonstrate how fluent reading should sound. These resources coupled with smaller group sizes and more personalized attention help my students bridge the reading gap.
The human race is not homogenous. Why should learning be?
