I teach in Title I high school with over 80% of students on free or reduced lunch. Many of our students come from unstable life situations and enjoy school as their escape and their time to be loved and supported! They often come to school already having overcome a variety of situations by before first block begins, and for that reason and many more, they truly are my inspiration. Regardless of their stories, they love to learn and are enthusiastic about trying new things, especially when they realize that they actually can do it.
My students often fight many obstacles daily in order to have high expectations for themselves.
They want so much to be prepared and ready for their next chapter as they plan what is after high school. They love and look up to their teachers for this and express their desire to try new opportunities often!
Each of my students wants an education to better themselves, even though the method and strategy to achieve that often varies on each student. They love new opportunities, especially opportunities that allow them to realize how much they actually are capable if they commit to improving and believe in themselves.
The JHS Varsity Tennis team was founded in January of 2017 and we are about to start our second season competing! The team was founded with very minimal resources, yet through a strong team presence our first year we were able to successfully have 6 tennis courts approved for construction on our school campus! While this is excellent news for our team, these new future courts mean we are now in need of baskets for tennis balls to use at practice, and tennis court squeegees to maintain our courts when it rains.
In order to facilitate a varsity level practice, our growing team desperately needs more baskets to hold tennis balls, as well as squeegees to care for wet courts when it rains.
By donating to our project, you are giving our players access to the tennis equipment necessary to facilitate a larger practice, and take care of the new tennis court facility that is currently being built! You are also helping us the grow and improve tennis in our surrounding community.
Being a second-year program, we have had to overcome some challenges getting our team started. We are grateful for any help and assistance we can earn in order to ensure that our players end up with the successful and fulfilled tennis season that they deserve.
