This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

An amazing group of kids that, despite daily hardships and challenges, want to work to build a stronger, healthier community! We are a Title 1 Focus school near the heart of Richmond, VA striving to provide resources to provide the highest quality education for our students.

Our students are looking forward to taking steps to "grow" a program that will allow the entire community an opportunity to come together in a unified, healthy, and positive way.

100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch at school and many participate in a program called Blessings in a Backpack, allowing students to take kid-friendly meals home for the weekend. Your help in funding this project will help us realize that each of us CAN make a difference!

My Project

Many of our students are challenged daily with where they will find their next meal. Healthy choices are often limited. Working together with other school programs our intent is to showcase how each one of us can contribute to a stronger school and community relationship that benefits all!

These 3rd Graders are ready to help start and grow, not only a community garden, but a stronger sense of community!

Our new worm composting system will not only provide material for our garden, but will tie into our science learning standards and help students understand our impact on our environment and our world.
