Our Classroom Carpet

My students need a carpet to use as a common place to meet and learn together daily during whole-group and small-group instruction!

My Students

I teach in an urban public elementary school in Central Indiana. Being a first-year teacher, this group of students will forever have a special place in my heart and be remembered as my first ever class. I can't wait to see how much they teach me!

My class is a group of 24 caring, creative thinkers who are enthusiastic about learning.

In our class, these students will work collaboratively in pairs or small groups to complete their work and explore their inquiries. Working collaboratively with one another allows the students to learn from and teach each other.

My Project

My goal is to provide a comfortable learning environment for my students. Our classroom needs a spacious, common area where we can meet daily to read, work in math groups, have a morning meeting, and take part in whole-group discussions. I hope to have a classroom carpet to create this comfortable common space that my students need!

The carpet will be utilized by my students on a daily basis and therefore, I want it to be a comfortable space where they are able to focus and do their best learning.

We begin each day sitting in a circle for a morning meeting. During this time, each student is greeted and has the opportunity to share. It is a time for us to get focused and ready for what the day brings, while also building a classroom community. We hope to begin every day with morning meeting on our classroom carpet.
