I currently work with students who have been diagnosed with different types of learning and behavioral disabilities. All of my students have Individual Education Plans (IEP), which outlines their strengths, weaknesses and individual needs that need to be provided to them in the general education setting as well as the special education setting. My students are all in different grades raging from Kindergarten thru fifth. These students receive special education services, such as Specialized Academic Instruction, Speech, Occupational Therapy and Counseling.
My school is located in the inner city of Richmond California.
The majority of our students come from low income homes. These students receive free or reduced price breakfast and lunch on a daily basis. Over 60% of our students and their parents are English Learners. This makes it difficult for students to receive assistance with school work at home.
Although my students have been diagnosed with different disabilities, I see them all as individuals who can learn anything as long as it is taught to them in a more meaningful way. I love that my students enjoy learning with me during small group instruction. They really try their best and never give up.
These materials will be used in conjunction with the materials I requested from my last project entitled "Learning through the use of technology." I need one more Apple iPad in order to have a set of 3 for my OSMO Learning Center. The OSMO Learning Center will be used by 3 students at a time. The students will be given 15 to 20 minutes to work on Math (Pizza Company, Numbers or Tan grams) or Reading (Words or Letters). Once their allotted time is up they will be given 10 to 15 minutes to play a preferred activity.
The containers from Amazon will be used in order to store the iPad stand and mirror along with other OSMO materials.
The plastic cases will be used to cover the iPad from unforeseeable damages.
