My students need the plastic beakers to explore density, physical and chemical reaction, and understanding how to measure different substances. The Earth Science kit will allow students with differential learning styles opportunities for success.
My students love to do hands on activities in my class. The school I work at has a student population of 40% poverty level. I am new to the district and would like to wow my students with fun activities for them to do. Instead of them learning about science, students are practicing science.
The student population is diverse with a variety of learning abilities, some of these students only access technology at school, so I would like their experience to be a positive one.
Teaching students is my joy, when I can take students who hate science, and turn them around by the end of the school year to love science then I have done my job.
It is my belief that every child has the ability to learn if you have the right bait. Through DonorsChoose, I hope to get the materials I need to make the light bulb go on for all of my students. If we capture the attention of the students of today, then tomorrow they will enter the world as leaders hopefully with a knowledge without prejudice, to make the world a better and safer place to live.
My Project
The Earth Science kit provides a variety of activities that address all science standards within a group or classroom environment. Many of the activities have been designed for students with differential learning and special needs opportunities to participate in group activities with successful outcomes.
The plastic lab equipment will provide safe opportunities for special need students to use and participate in lab instruction without fear.
Students sometimes find it difficult to handle glassware, so these plastic lab beakers will provide alternatives for students with special needs or alternative learning styles.
The other supplies will provide materials students need to be successful in class by giving them adequate supplies for group activities.
