My Project

Full disclosure: this project is completely student driven including the following essay explaining the purpose and goal of our project. "We are the Captain's Council, a group of 18 middle school student leaders, grades 6-8, who were chosen to represent our whole school. The Captain's Council's goals that we have created are to help around our community, to spread kindness, school spirit around our school and our town, and to help families and individuals in need.

After brainstorming during our meeting, we decided that getting an Ice Cream Machine is something that would be an ideal fit for many purposes, like, first, it’s enjoyable for kids to eat, second, it can serve as an incentive to motivate for improving attendance and good behavior, and third, it can be used as a way to fundraise money for our other “missions”.

We are planning to raise money for a few special events such as:

-Our Ronald MacDonald project: we want to sponsor a room at the Ronald McDonald House for a year

-To buy groceries for families staying at the Ronald McDonald house and cooking meals for them

-Create Kindness Care Kits for local homeless shelters

-For the team to attend leadership conferences throughout the year and host guest speakers as well.

We also feel having an ice cream machine will help to cool kids down during the spring, summer, and fall heat while we are in school. Also, it will just be a nice thing for students to treat staff and special guests. In short, this ice cream machine will help motivate all our middle school kids (and maybe staff) to come to school and to increase overall morale.
