Operation: Headphones, Books, Books, and More Books
My students need books, headphones, and dictionaries! Many of my students want to look up words online but I always make them use physical dictionaries. The sets of books are for reading groups!
My students are incredible. They are bright, funny, and driven. I want to be the best educator for them I can possibly be, and part of that includes preparing them for our technologically advanced future.
My daily goal is for my students to LOVE coming to school.
I want them to succeed and to have a deep-rooted love of learning. Reading transports kids to new worlds, and promotes imagination PLUS literacy skills! Most of my kids love having time to simply sit down and read independently. I want to expand my classroom library so that they have a wide variety of age appropriate texts to chose from.
My Project
My students need headphones for their computers! Technology is so important in today's fast-paced world, and I want my kids to know how to use it effectively and safely. For their Chromebooks, they need headphones! Many families cannot afford to buy them for their kids.
I want to instill a strong love of reading within my students.
Books that they are interested in will make a huge difference with this! Kids love Harry Potter, and I always feel bad that I don't have it in my classroom library. I want a few sets of great books (like "Loser" and "Tuck Everlasting") for my reading groups.
When students are working on vocabulary, I always make them look up words in the dictionary instead of online. It is a valuable skill! My current dictionaries (I only have 5) are falling apart and are out of date.
