Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

LCDC is a place that fosters creativity and discovery in the minds of 3- and 4-year-old thinkers. While at school they learn life-long skills, such as problem solving and persistence, that help them to overcome the social and economic challenges that are part of their everyday lives.

Students' natural curiosity and imagination blossom by engaging in hands-on learning experiences about their world.

Our students are excited about their learning, and come to school each day hungry to learn more about the world around them and their place within it. These bright young minds are future leaders, thinkers, creators, and inventors who deserve the opportunity to shape their own successful future.

My Project

Young children learn naturally through their play. In today's world, there are limited opportunities for children to engage in open-ended outdoor play. By providing students with these unstructured building materials, we are fostering their abilities to think outside the box. Their play becomes much more purposeful as children work together to build large-scale structures.

Research shows that children who engage in unstructured, yet intentional play learn skills that will last a lifetime.

Persistence, cooperation, problem-solving and critical thinking are all vital skills needed to be successful in our 21st Century world. Having the opportunity to engage with these open-ended building materials is the perfect example of the type of play that is crucial for child development. With the skills learned from these types of experiences, students are prepared for their future and ready to take on the world.
