Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With the support of this project, students will use materials such as soft serve ice cream mix, sprinkles, straws, and a service cart to create and sell ice cream treats during school events and community activities. The addition of a refractometer will introduce students to quality control and basic food science, helping them understand consistency, measurement, and product standards.

Students will take full ownership of this initiative by:

Managing supplies and organizing materials using the rolling utility cart

Preparing and serving products in a safe and efficient manner

Practicing financial literacy through tracking sales and making change

Collaborating as a team to plan and execute events

This is a hands-on learning experience where students develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. They are learning how to run a small business while working toward a meaningful goal: supporting student activities and opportunities within our school community.

Many of my students thrive when given opportunities to lead and take ownership of their learning. This project empowers them to see the direct results of their hard work while building confidence and independence.
