Numbers, Letters, and Words, Oh My!

My Students

My students are from a rural farm community. They come to me eager to learn! Since we are just starting out they come to me at all different ability levels. Some have had some preschool experience and others have never been away from their moms. Fine motor skills can sometimes be a challenge for some at this age. We are lucky because our families are wonderful to work with most are super supportive from home. I want my students to learn to love school and be happy to come each day. My students learn best by using lots of hands-on learning opportunities. Doing this allows them to keep their little bodies moving and learning at the same time.

My Project

We are a new kindergarten classroom, so I am working on building our Centers collection for my young students! They need hands-on activities to keep them busy and they love anything magnetic, so these Magnetic Number Tiles will be engaging for them all while practicing basic counting skills and matching up numbers to dots, then the Magnetic Letter Tiles will allow them to practice word building in a fun way! The Crayon Word Building Center will be perfect as we start to practice combining word sounds and build words. Plus we can never have enough storage containers. Some of the boxes are hard to fit all the pieces back together in, so these containers will help us stay organized and fit everything in safely!

My young students thrive when they are using hands-on activities to keep them busy learning and these new center activities will do just that!

They will be so busy having fun that they won't even realize they are learning about counting and letter sounds!
