This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I love that I have a group of focused and determined students who strive to overcome any challenges they may face. We are a neighborhood school that services a low socioeconomic community of families, many in transition (homeless), who typically struggle to make ends meet.
Many of the students I serve come from households that have difficulty providing their students with basic necessities therefore, we often lean to community partners and outside support to provide students with what they need to excel.
Despite some of the hardships they face, I have a classroom full of students who work diligently every day to make a difference in their community, and I am confident they will change the world.
My Project
Hunger can cause the feeling of weakness in children. I'm requesting healthy snacks to help my students throughout the day. My students eat during the last lunch period every day and they often need some nourishment before they lunch period. These snacks will serve as a way to keep my students full until they get home.
Many of my students complain about how hungry they are and I have nothing to give them.
Your contribution to my students success will help them remain more focused in class. I want my students to focus on the lessons instead of being hungry. This allows them to succeed academically in all of their classes. Food is something that no child should have to go without.
