Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our Title 1 school, situated in a high-crime, low-income neighborhood and welcoming students from various countries, we're inspired daily by our diverse student body's resilience and determination. Each student enriches our community with unique perspectives and talents, fostering inclusivity and growth.
The resources we're requesting for our "Nourish & Thrive" project, such as Maruchan Ramen noodles, Kraft macaroni and cheese, Chef Boyardee pasta, and Del Monte fruit cups, are essential for supporting our students' learning journeys.
In our area, many students face food insecurity at home, making access to food in school vital. These meals not only alleviate immediate hunger but also offer the option for students to take food home, ensuring they're nourished outside of school hours.
Beyond providing sustenance, these meals serve as a foundation for academic success. When basic needs are met, students can fully engage in learning activities, participate in discussions, and perform at their best. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their potential. Additionally, we aim to instill healthy eating habits that promote physical health and academic success.
Our students' resilience and determination despite facing various obstacles make them truly special. Many come from low-income households or challenging circumstances, yet they demonstrate remarkable perseverance and dedication to their education. Through the "Nourish & Thrive" project, we're not only addressing immediate food needs but also investing in their long-term success and well-being.
