Next Generation Problem Solvers with a 3D Printer!

Help me give my students a 3D Printer to create fun and exciting projects!

My Students

My students amaze me every day! Most of my students are English Language Learners who have gaps in reading and math. In the past three years, they have not had a "traditional" school experience and yet they show amazing resilience! These students have faced "pandemic learning" due to school shut-downs, online learning, uncertainty and extensive population growth in our area all with a smile under their masks. Now that we are facing more COVID-19 related problems, my students will benefit by continuing to become the next generation of problem solvers.

My Project

In Science we have been studying about living systems and hope to be able to research more about the use of 3D printers to generate replicas of real human body parts. We would also like to try 3D printing to make personal protective equipment (PPE) including protective clothing, gloves, face shields, goggles, face masks and other equipment designed to protect the wearer from the spread of infection or illness.

Also, If we have this printer, we will print topographical maps of the mountains along the Salt Lake Valley.

I already have the STL files ready to use. The winter inversion in the Salt Lake Valley due to pollution is a huge problem that we face as a community because it affects our air quality. Respiratory problems due to air pollution are on the rise when combined with our recent spike of COVID-19 cases.

I would like to help students visualize real-world problems so that they can help be part of the solution. Having this printer will help my students become the next generation of problem solvers.
