Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in the process of discovering their favorite books and authors.

Our school is located in a working class neighborhood.

All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. The students at our school often begin school behind their peers in wealthy areas. They work extremely hard and aspire to become great adults.

My Project

I am asking for a collection of the Newbery Award winners for my classroom library. My students work very hard to search out good books and favorite authors. Having a shelf of all of the Newbery winners would help students discover new great authors and recognize some they have already read.

This project will make our classroom library stand out with quality literature and classy organization.

Students who are proud of their library are more likely to use it. Some of these books are my personal favorites, and I hope to impart this appreciation to my students.
