My Students

As a first-year teacher, it didn't take long for me to fall in love with Detroit Community Schools and our community. The tenacity and resiliency of the students, their families, and the staff is unlike anything I have ever witnessed. ​

Seeing this poverty-stricken community firsthand has given me a new perspective of the daily struggles that our learners face.

Even with the odds stacked against them, they do not allow anything to get in their way. My goal as their teacher is to give them every opportunity that I can to enhance their learning and provide them with the quality education they deserve.

My Project

A new year means a new adventure, a science adventure that is. The bacteria kit, dry erase markers, and safety goggles in this project will provide my students with the basic materials that they need to stay organized, stay focused, and continue learning through a variety of teaching techniques. These students haven't been in the classroom in over a year.

Being prepared will help my students be engaged, empowered, and enthused about their own learning.

Along with the basic supplies, our classroom is in need of some lesson-specific materials. No matter what, it is going to be a great year!
