This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our goal is to transform our U.S. History classroom into a space that fosters inclusivity, comfort, and a love for learning. We believe that a welcoming and organized environment is essential for students to engage in their studies fully. Additionally, we aim to enhance the reading curriculum by providing a range of books that represent diverse perspectives, ensuring that our students develop a well-rounded understanding of U.S. history.

Specifically, the goal is to expand our reading corner which is underdevelopment.

One issue students identify is that school sometimes feels restrictive and uncomfortable. As a teacher, I agree that a classroom should be comforting yet productive.

These supplies are meant to help display/promote student work, provide a clean and organized workspace, and provide a more diverse array of reading options. Supplies like the wipes and the vaccum are meant to teach students the idea of responsibility and taking ownership of the spaces they work in. Items like this and something like the diffuser are meant to keep the room fresh. Microphones are meant to create presentations reflecting on the books they have read.

Over the past year, we've been transforming our classroom into a place we have come to appreciate and enjoy being in. I'm proud to say it is truly a place that reflects the interests and personality of all who come in.
