This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My sixth grade students are bright, eager to learn, and excited to come to school each day, so they can grow as much as they possibly can. They are curious, full of wonder, and excited about the world around them. I teach at a Title I school in North Carolina where 100 percent of our children receive free or reduced-price lunch.

My students come from diverse backgrounds, with over 40% of them coming from Hispanic families and/or being considered ESL/ELL.

Therefore, many of our students have limited resources outside of school, so the ​school may provide their only chance to experience enriching activities.

My Project

Help me give my students a slime making kit, a grow a frog kit, flower pots, seeds, soil, a color printer, and other STEM tools!

My students need materials for our STEM Friday lessons.

On STEM Fridays we come together and do various activities.

My students have expressed an interest in using our STEM Fridays to grow flowers and grow a frog. They love hands on activities. We will use the seeds, flower pots and soil to plant our own flowers. We will use the color printer for students to type and create a journal about the frog as he/she grows in its habitat. We will use the mixing bowls, spatulas and slime kit to make our slime. With these materials,​ I would be able to have students create and build more within the STEM lessons.

My students love to build and create all kinds of things. Children must learn how to explore and understand new information and how things work. Additionally, STEM learning helps children better use and understand technology. Please help me give them more opportunities to develop their creativity!
