This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My players are learning the game of tennis, and how skills learned on the court translate into real-life situations. I feel this game provides a great opportunity to help our student-athletes grow as young women. They represent our school with pride and play the game with passion.

The tennis team has one of the highest team GPAs in the school.

Our school is a Title I school in which 93.6% of the student population qualifies for the free or reduced-price lunch program. Our student demographics are 79.3% Hispanic, 17.8% Black, and 1.4% White. We also have one of the highest migrant populations in the state at 41.4%

My Project

Our town is a small, farming community located in the rural area of Florida. Many families have limited funds available to contribute to their children’s extracurricular activities.

We want to purchase tennis balls for the upcoming season so that our players can improve their skills on the court by using quality equipment.

Purchasing these tennis balls will help alleviate a cost that our player's families can now use elsewhere. We are always in need of tennis balls as they tend to go flat after a few matches or daily use for practice. The families that come to the matches will be able to cheer on their daughters that have been introduced to the game through this project.
