My Students

Hello! The ceramics students are amazing, resilient learners who are willing to challenge norms, take risks, make mistakes, and then learn and grow. Most of my students have no previous history working with clay, and they surprise me daily with how quickly they pick up concepts and how willing they are to explore and have fun with a new material!

My Project

For many students, ceramics is a space where they can forget about the challenges they face outside of class and provides an opportunity to create, make, and leave with a representation of their hard work. Many of these students use ceramics class to vent and express themselves safely after a challenging couple of years with the pandemic. These materials will allow students to explore using new glazes, liners, and underglazes. Having access to new materials will create the opportunity for students to express themselves in new ways while exploring and expressing their challenges, frustrations, success, and hopes for the coming years.
