One of the goals we have for Book Club is to provide every student with their personal copy of the book we are reading for the month. This means that we need 6 different titles in quantities of at least 40 during the school year to meet the needs of our growing Book Club. Your donation is so valuable to us because it takes the financial pressure off the library to provide these books. \r\n\r\nOne of the reasons that we provide books to our students to keep as their personal copy is because we are creating a home library for our students. Many of our students have siblings and I often hear from my students and their siblings that they read the books from Book Club that we provided. Our goal is to grow readers, so by ensuring a personal copy, not only are making a reader out of our Book Club member, but often we get a reader out of one of the family members if not more. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity. I have made some shapes out of poster boards that we can manipulate and move about to simulate reflections, translations, and rotations. \r\n\r\nI have put a Cartesian grid on our floor in our classroom. Students have been able to play with the shapes and move them around according to directions such as what would the image look like if this object was translated right two units and then reflected over the line shown and they have been successful so far. Being able to touch and handle the shapes, to manipulate them around, has added a tactile benefit that builds muscle memory, not just mental memory. It makes the memory more sticky. \r\n\r\nIt has been so fun to play with them. A few days in math class have been less boring than normal thanks to your generous donation.
