My Project

Our school library is lacking in new, vibrant books that make our students want to read. My school consists mainly of students of color, so our books should be a reflection of that. Unfortunately, most of our books feature only white characters.

I want my students to see that characters in books do look like them.

I want my students of color to know how wonderful they truly are. Do have adventures. Do have lives that are remarkable. And because of this, they too can live remarkable lives.

I also want them to become readers & scholars. In order to do this, they need to be able to see this reflected in the books they read.

Please help me get diverse books fully of characters of color into the hands of my students. Thank you!
