My Students

My students are a wonderful group of kids that will benefit highly from new literature and texts for small group guided reading. I am shifting from traditional guided reading set up to "book clubs" that will share a joy for reading and less artificial opportunities to discuss, write and consider each text! The students are excited to learn and read more "grown up" texts and truly show what they know! Finishing their first book is an exciting accomplishment at this age!

My Project

As a teacher new to third grade, I know that students at this age thrive with independence and are excited to show all they know. I hope to use them to instill a lifelong passion for reading and create a community where reading is interactive and fun for all involved. These books will expand our library, giving students the chance to interact with texts they have not encountered before. Some books will be used for read alouds, a technique I am passionate about in every classroom. During a season when so many teacher feel stressed with standards and time, I am making a point to incorporate read alouds into our daily practice!
