Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

When I started teaching 20 years ago, technology looked very different. My students would practice basic literacy skills (word/letter ID, concepts about print, etc) using a CD player and matching books/CDs. CD players are a thing of the past with the technology offered today! The Tonie system is a simple speaker with easy to use controls. With this system, my students can listen to stories while reading books to practice directionality, letter and word identification, comprehension and so much more. My students used constant technology during COVID and I don't want to offer more iPad/Chromebook time at school.

My students are only at school for 3 hours and I want them to get a literacy foundation from fun, hands-on, authentic experiences.

I feel that the Tonie box can provide this and will be interesting and engaging to my students.
