Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are incredible! I have twenty-eight motivated English language learners eager to learn.
My students come from a low socioeconomic background with limited resources available.
We are a Title I Performance Improvement school with a one hundred percent free lunch program. Many parents work two jobs and are struggling to support the family. Though their environment may not be conducive to learning, they have an insatiable love of learning! I know that if we provide them with the right support, resources, and opportunities, they can experience success.
My Project
I am currently in the process of becoming a National Board Certified Teacher. It was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide.
My goal is to strengthen my practice and make adjustments to my teaching so I can help my students succeed.
I want to mentor and empower my students to become autonomous learners and agents of their own change. I want to continue to teach inclusion, anti-racism, and diversity in all my lessons.
I would like to take part in Component 1 which is a computer-based assessment that asks you to demonstrate knowledge of and pedagogical practices for teaching your content area. You must demonstrate knowledge of developmentally appropriate content, which is necessary for teaching across the full age range and ability level of your chosen certificate area. There are three constructed response exercises and approximately 45 selected response items.
As teachers, we have the opportunity to develop mentoring relationships with students who need them as we spend a great deal of time at school each week.
