National Boards Certification School Counselor Support

I need funding for the four components to achieve my National Boards Certification in the area of School Counseling.

My Project

As a seasoned School Counselor, I want to work on my National Boards Certification in the area of Early Childhood Through Young Adulthood/School Counseling which is considered the "gold standard" in educator certification. Pursuing this professional development will show my knowledge in the field, challenge me and ultimately improve success and learning for my students' social and emotional development. The assessment for certification is grouped into four components, and each one costs $475. My goal is to complete this certification in one calendar school year, which means I will need to buy all components at once, totaling $1900 plus the $75 registration fee. The entire process will be very rigorous with several papers to write, studying and portfolio work submissions.

In Component 1(Content Knowledge), I will demonstrate my knowledge of pedagogical practices in the area of School Counseling.

I will have selected response items and constructed response items to answer in a formal assessment setting. I will need to study and utilize various test preparation resources.

In Component 2 (Differentiation in Instruction), I will submit a written portfolio which highlights my ability to evaluate learning strengths and needs for individual students while planning differentiated activities for them in a small group setting.

In Component 3 (Teaching Practice and Learning Environment), I will capture details about myself in action as a School Counselor through two video recordings, analysis and reflection as it relates to instruction, student engagement and the learning environment.

Last, Component 4 (Effective and Reflective Practitioner), will give me the opportunity to highlight my abilities in developing and applying my knowledge of my students. I will gather data from various sources and use this information to effectively plan and create a portfolio entry to show how I collaborated with stakeholders to make an impact on student growth and learning.
