Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher who teaches 4th grade in the Oakland Unified School District. I have designed a classroom environment where my students feel encouraged, comfortable, safe, and supported. As a teacher, I strive to make each of my students become life-long learners.
Being able to read and write are essential in becoming lifelong learners.
My students come from various economic backgrounds and, with your generous donations, my students will be able to challenge themselves and each other to become life-long learners each and every day. Thank you for your support—my students and I really appreciate it!
My Project
In a few weeks my students will be embarking on a new reading unit where they will read and study mystery texts. The genre is very fascinating for my students, so I'm excited to see how my students analyze mystery novels.
My students absolutely love mystery books, so this unit is going to be very fun.
In order for this unit to be successful, each student needs to have access to a mystery book. My current classroom library has a very limited supply of mystery books, so I am asking for more books to enrich my student's literacy skills and love for reading.
