This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am humbly asking for your support in acquiring copies of the books Leaving Lymon and Being Clem by Lesa Cline-Ransome for my students. These books are sequels to the critically acclaimed Finding Langston, which tells the story of a young boy who battles loneliness and the loss of his mother after moving to Chicago with his father as part of the Great Migration. My students adored this book, and I was right there with them. It was an amazing read that left more than a few of us with tears in our eyes.

My students have been begging me to get these books, and I want to give them all that they deserve.

These books would be phenomenal additions to our classroom library, and I could use them to teach lessons about the importance of point of view in a novel, as Lymon and Clem are secondary characters in the first book, and the sequels provide their backstory and take on events.

Thank you so much for considering this project. It means the world to my students.
