My Own Spot to Learn on the Carpet!

Help me give my students a special space of their own on a beautiful alphabet carpet for group learning. Also some alternative seating to help those busy bodies keep moving while learning.

My Students

Kindergarten is such a magical year (It maybe the last magical year of school). All the students come in happy, loving school. They have no past experiences to cloud their enthusiasm for school. My Kindergarteners love to learn in large and small groups. They are so excited about almost every minute of school. Each day brings new learning and they are so excited in the morning to see what they are going to do and learn.

My students have become a family at school, they take care of each other and show concern, support and true kinship with each other.

My Project

My students need their own spot to sit when we meet as a group. Our group time is very vital part of our day. The students begin and end each day in group time. The students need a specific spot that their body belongs on. It helps with focus and just knowing that it is their space and no one else.

Our class begins the day with our care time.

We talk about what is going on in each ones life. Special events for them or retelling something as simple as what they had for dinner the night before.

Throughout the day we come together as a group to learn about the calendar, math, science and literacy.

The day ends with a wrap up of the day and some encouraging words to come to school eager to learn for the next day. The carpet will be used through out the day. We tend to spend about 40% of our day in group time.

The carpet will provide a place for each student to sit within their personal space without disrupting other students.
