My students need their own spot to sit when we meet as a group. Our group time is very vital part of our day. The students begin and end each day in group time. The students need a specific spot that their body belongs on. It helps with focus and just knowing that it is their space and no one else. Our class begins the day with our care time. We talk about what is going on in each ones life. Special events for them or retelling something as simple as what they had for dinner the night before. Throughout the day we come together as a group to learn about the calendar, math, science and literacy. The day ends with a wrap up of the day and some encouraging words to come to school eager to learn for the next day. The carpet will be used through out the day. We tend to spend about 40% of our day in group time. The carpet will provide a place for each student to sit within their personal space without disrupting other students.
