Multicultural Art Supplies to Promote Tolerance

My Students

In our global society students need to be able to learn acceptance of all types of people. By learning about and accepting other cultures students will be better able to relate to all people.

My students attend an urban Title I school where many of the students have disabilities.

My art students are inspiring - each one brings to school their own story to tell. They are tenacious, bright and funny. Art class allows students to learn about and accept other cultures.

My Project

These multicultural art supplies - markers, construction paper, colored pencils and crayons will help students recognize how every person's skin tone is a bit different. These materials provide a variety of colors to create a multitude of skin tones - tan, beige, bronze, tawny, golden beige, terra cotta, mahogany and sienna.

These multicultural materials will make a significant difference in many students' lives.

Students will recognize that in life and art skin tones aren't just brown or peach but a multitude of mixtures and combinations which should be honored and cherished. Students will build self-esteem and learn about other cultures throughout the world and in their own neighborhoods.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
