Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love most about my students is their resilience, curiosity, and unique ways of engaging with the world. Each student brings individual strengths, challenges, and personalities into our classroom, and it is incredibly meaningful to support their growth in communication, independence, and self-confidence. My students learn best in an environment that is structured, supportive, and responsive to their sensory, behavioral, and developmental needs.

The sensory toys help students regulate their bodies and emotions, allowing them to remain calm, focused, and ready to learn.

These tools reduce anxiety, support self-regulation, and help prevent sensory overload during academic and functional tasks. Fine motor and compliance tools (such as fidgets, manipulatives, and task-based materials) support students in building hand strength, coordination, and endurance while also increasing their ability to engage in non-preferred tasks. These tools help reduce maladaptive behaviors by providing appropriate outlets for movement and supporting task completion in a positive, structured way. Edible reinforcers are an essential motivational support for many of my students. They encourage participation, reinforce positive behaviors, and increase engagement during challenging academic, functional, and behavioral learning activities. Cleaning supplies are critical for maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy learning environment. They also support instruction in daily living and functional skills, allowing students to practice responsibility, independence, and real-world routines such as cleaning up after themselves and caring for their classroom.

Together, these resources help create a learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and motivated, allowing them to develop essential academic, behavioral, and life skills. Thank you for supporting our classroom and helping our students continue to grow and succeed.
